bad-cat-purepath-reactive-load-box
Bad Cat Purepath Reactive Load Box

Purepath is a reactive load box and speaker simulator with no power supply, no DSP and no menus. Your amp powers it. Inside is a mechanical reactive load, so the amp sees something that behaves like a real speaker, with the sag, dynamics and interaction you'd lose with a resistive load. The direct output runs through an analog cab simulation, not an impulse response, so there's no latency.

It takes up to 150 watts at 4, 8 or 16 ohms, and you can run it silent or pass the signal on to an extension cab. Tone is set with switches rather than presets: Edge or Center mic position, Open or Closed cab, Ceramic or Alnico speaker character, a presence boost, a -20 dB pad for loud amps, plus ground lift and phase for blending with a mic'd cab. It won a NAMM 2026 Best in Show award.

It suits a tube-amp player who wants to record or play a silent stage without giving up the amp they love. If you want an attenuator with a re-amp stage instead, Bad Cat's Unleash does that job.

SPECIFICATIONS

FEATURES
Power Handling: Up to 150 Watts
Impedance Options: 4, 8, and 16 Ohms
Load Selection: Silent or Extension Cab
Fully Analog Speaker Simulation, No DSP
No External Power Required

CONTROLS
LEVEL: 0 dB / -20 dB
MIC: Edge / Center
CAB: Open / Closed
SPKR: Ceramic / Alnico
PRESENCE: 0 / 1
GROUND: Lift / Normal
PHASE: Normal / Reverse

CONNECTIONS
Input from Amp
Output to Speaker
Direct Output

DIMENSIONS
Country of Origin: USA (Designed at Bad Cat in Costa Mesa, CA)
Size: 7.5" (W) x 7" (D) x 4" (H, 3.25" without feet)
Warranty: 5-year Limited Warranty
