The back and sides are Honduran mahogany. The D1 is the plainest of Collings' dreadnoughts in its appointments: tortoise binding, a walnut backstrip, a simple b/w rosette and an unbound ebony fingerboard with long dots.

The rest of the construction is the same as the rest of the range. That means pre-war scalloped X-bracing in Sitka, a mortise and tenon hybrid neck joint, a bone nut and drop-in bone saddle, and Collings' Modified V neck at 1 11/16" with 2 3/16" spacing at the bridge and a 14" to 26" compound radius. Collings voices its standard dreadnoughts for clarity and headroom over a tight low end, which is why bluegrass flatpickers who share a stage with banjos and fiddles keep choosing them.

It weighs 4 lb 7 oz.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Serial: 37049
Weight: 4 lb 7 oz
Top: Old-Growth Sitka spruce
Back & Sides: Honduran mahogany
Body Binding: Tortoise with b/w/b/w top purfling
Backstrip: 1-style (Walnut)
Rosette: b/w Purfling
Brace Material: Sitka spruce
Brace Pattern: Pre-war scalloped X-brace
Design Option: No soundboard graft (tongue brace)
Body Finish: High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer
Pickguard: Tortoise
Body Width: 15 5/8"
Body Depth: 4 7/8"

NECK
Neck: Honduran mahogany
Neck Profile: Modified V
Neck Joint: Mortise & tenon hybrid
Neck Finish: High gloss polyester resin
Scale Length: 25 1/2"
Nut: Bone, 1 11/16"
Fingerboard: Ebony with MOP long dots
Fingerboard Radius: 14" - 26" compound
Frets: Medium 18% nickel-silver
Peghead Veneer: Ebony with MOP Collings logo
Peghead Profile: Square
Truss Rod: Fully adjustable

HARDWARE
Bridge: Ebony belly-style with 2 3/16" spacing
Saddle: Bone, drop-in
Bridge Pins/End Pin: Ebony with MOP dot
Tuners: Nickel Waverly

CASE
Included: Deluxe hardshell case

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0700/1220/7188/files/CollingsD1OldGrowthSitkaSpruceTop-37049_1.jpg?v=1791316685
