collings-i-30-lc
Collings I-30 LC

The I-30 LC is a fully hollow double cutaway from Collings with a pair of Lollar Dog Ear P90s in custom phenolic covers. Its maple laminate body, 15" wide and 1 5/8" deep, is built around parallel trestle braces that Collings says tie the neck block to the tail block, keeping the body light while staying strong. Collings developed it from what it learned on the I-35 LC and the Statesman LC.

Collings describes it as acoustically responsive and yet focused enough to resist feedback in jazz, blues and rock, and it hears a range from warm jazz tones to 1960s British Invasion chime from the P90s. A Collings trapeze tailpiece with a Kluson ABR-1 bridge sets the string feel, and both cutaways open the upper frets.

For a semi-hollow with a centre block and Lollar humbuckers on the same outline, look at the I-35 LC. Collings offers options for tops, finishes, trim and inlays on this model, and they are listed below.

The photo shows one example build.

Options for this model include:

Nonstandard, premium and metallic finishes

Aged finish and hardware

Bigsby vibrato

Parallelogram or broken glass inlays

Gold hardware

60s neck profile

Left-handed build

Price subject to change based on options chosen.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA (built in Austin, Texas)
Construction: Fully hollow w/ parallel trestle braces
Body: Maple laminate
Top: Maple laminate
Soundhole: F-holes (unbound)
Body Binding: Non-grained ivoroid
Pickguard: Black/Cream/Black
Guitar Finish: High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer

NECK
Neck: Honduran mahogany
Neck Joint: Extra long mortise & tenon
Scale Length: 24 7/8"
Fingerboard: Rosewood w/ MOP long dots (5mm non-tapered)
Fingerboard Radius: 12"
Fingerboard Binding: Non-grained ivoroid
Frets: Medium 18% nickel-silver
Nut: 1 11/16"
Truss Rod Cover: Black/Cream/Black
Peghead Profile: Haircut
Peghead Veneer: Ebony w/ MOP Collings logo
Peghead Binding: None

ELECTRONICS
Pickups: Lollar Dog Ear P90s w/ custom phenolic covers
Pots/Caps: CTS 500K / Jupiter Vintage Yellow
Wiring: 50s style
Knobs: Amber or black top hat

HARDWARE
Bridge: Kluson ABR-1(nickel-plated zinc w/ retaining wire)
Tailpiece: Collings original trapeze tailpiece
Tuners: Nickel Gotoh w/ Collings logo
Strings: D'Addario NYXL1149 (.011" - .049")

DIMENSIONS
Body Width: 15"
Body Length: 17 5/8"
Body Depth: 1 5/8"
Total Length: 40"

CASE
Case: Deluxe hardshell case
