collings-i-35-lc-vintage
Collings I-35 LC Vintage

The I-35 LC Vintage is Collings' laminated semi-hollow reworked with the 1960s in mind. Collings changed the laminate and centre block recipes and the neck construction to get a looser, more organic feel, then fitted custom Throbak ESG-102B pickups, Luxe Bumblebee capacitors and its own aged finish and aged hardware. The nitro lacquer is aged, and the reflector top knobs come in gold or black.

It keeps the I-35 outline at 15" wide and 1 5/8" deep, with a maple and spruce centre block that resists feedback, a Kluson ABR-1 bridge and stop tailpiece, and 50s-style wiring. Collings strings it with D'Addario 10s, lighter than the 11s on the other I-35 models. The Honduran mahogany neck has a 1 11/16" nut and a 24 7/8" scale.

For the same laminated body with Lollar humbuckers and a new-looking finish, see the I-35 LC. The solid-wood version is the I-35. Collings offers options for tops, finishes, trim and inlays on this model, listed below.

The photo shows one example build.

Options for this model include:

Nonstandard, premium and metallic finishes

Aged finish and hardware

ThroBak humbuckers

Bigsby vibrato

Parallelogram or broken glass inlays

Gold hardware

60s neck profile

Left-handed build

Price subject to change based on options chosen.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA (built in Austin, Texas)
Construction: Semi hollow w/ maple/spruce center block
Body: Maple laminate
Top: Maple laminate
Soundhole: F-holes (unbound)
Body Binding: Non-grained ivoroid
Pickguard: Black/Cream/Black
Guitar Finish: High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer (Aged)

NECK
Neck: Honduran mahogany
Neck Joint: Extra long mortise & tenon
Scale Length: 24 7/8"
Fingerboard: Rosewood w/ MOP long dots (5mm non-tapered)
Fingerboard Radius: 12"
Fingerboard Binding: Non-grained ivoroid
Frets: Medium 18% nickel-silver
Nut: 1 11/16"
Truss Rod Cover: Black/Cream/Black
Peghead Profile: Haircut
Peghead Veneer: Ebony w/ MOP Collings logo
Peghead Binding: None

ELECTRONICS
Pickups: Throbak ESG-102B
Pickup Rings: Black
Pots/Caps: CTS 500K / Luxe Bumblebee
Wiring: 50s style
Knobs: Gold or Black Reflector Top Knobs

HARDWARE
Bridge: Kluson ABR-1(nickel-plated zinc w/ retaining wire)
Tailpiece: Kluson Stop Tailpiece (nickel-plated zinc, steel studs)
Tuners: Nickel Gotoh w/ Collings logo
Strings: D'Addario NYXL1046 (.010" - .046")

DIMENSIONS
Body Width: 15"
Body Length: 17 5/8"
Body Depth: 1 5/8"
Total Length: 40"

CASE
Case: Deluxe hardshell case
