collings-mf-deluxe
Collings MF Deluxe

The MF Deluxe is Collings' F-style mandolin with a gloss nitrocellulose top and peghead veneer over satin back, sides and neck. Ivoroid binds the top, the fingerboard and the peghead, the ebony pickguard is bound in ivoroid, and the Gotoh tuners carry ivoroid buttons. The top is fully carved Adirondack spruce, and the back, sides and neck are Eastern flamed maple.

Collings builds it with the same construction as its most appointed models: tone bars, a dovetail neck joint, an ebony bridge with adjustable saddle and the Collings original tailpiece. The rounded V neck has a 1 1/8" nut and a compound radius from 5 1/2" to 11 5/8" on a 13 7/8" scale. With f-holes, Collings gives it more cut and chop than its oval-hole mandolins.

The MF is the all-satin version, and the MF5 goes to full gloss with bound back and the Flourish peghead inlay. Collings' options for tops, finishes, trim and inlays can take the MF Deluxe further, and the list follows below.

The photo shows one example build.

Options for this model include:

Italian spruce top, or torrefied Adirondack spruce on the MT2

Black or cream top finish

1 3/16" nut width

Ivoroid binding

Pickguard, bound or unbound

Waverly tuner upgrade

Left-handed build

Price subject to change based on options chosen.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA (built in Austin, Texas)
Construction: F-style
Top: Adirondack spruce
Back/Sides/Neck: Eastern flamed maple
Bracing: Tone bars
Soundhole: F-holes
Body Binding: Ivoroid (top)
Pickguard: Ebony w/ Ivoroid binding
Body Finish: Satin nitrocellulose lacquer w/ gloss top

NECK
Neck Profile: Rounded V
Neck Joint: Dovetail
Scale Length: 13 7/8"
Fingerboard: Ebony w/ MOP dots
Fingerboard Radius: 5 1/2" - 11 5/8" compound
Fingerboard Binding: Ivoroid
Frets: Medium 18% nickel-silver
Nut: 1 1/8"
String Spacing: 1 9/16"
Truss Rod: Fully Adjustable
Peghead Veneer: Ebony w/ MOP Collings logo
Peghead Binding: Ivoroid

HARDWARE
Bridge: Ebony w/ Adjustable Saddle
Tailpiece: Collings original tailpiece
Tuners: Nickel Gotoh w/ ivoroid buttons
Strings: D'Addario EJ74 (.011" - .040")

DIMENSIONS
Body Width: 9 15/16"
Body Length: 12 7/8"
Body Depth: 1 13/16"
Total Length: 27 7/16"

CASE
Case: Deluxe hardshell case
