fender-custom-shop-artisan-korina-stratocaster
Fender Custom Shop Artisan Korina Stratocaster

The Artisan Korina Stratocaster has a thinline semi-hollow body with a single f-hole, built from korina, a light, fine-grained African wood often compared to mahogany. It comes in Chocolate 3-Color Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer in NOS condition, with gold hardware and a 1-ply parchment pickguard.

The pickups are Custom Shop Hand-Wound Fat '64 Single-Coil Strat models, wound slightly hotter than a standard '64 set, with a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle that cancels hum in positions 2 and 4. The master volume has a Tone-Saver treble-bleed circuit that keeps the top end as you turn down, and there are two tone controls, one for the neck and middle and one for the bridge. The roasted quartersawn maple neck has a '60s Oval "C" carve, a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard on a 9.5" to 12" compound radius and 21 Narrow Tall (6105) frets.

Its sibling is the Artisan Korina Telecaster. For a hollow Strat with a koa top and blend wiring, see the Artisan Koa Thinline Stratocaster.

The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA
Body Material: Korina
Body Finish: Nitrocellulose Lacquer with WLS Undercoat
Body Shape: Stratocaster
Pickguard: 1-Ply Parchment
Aging: NOS

NECK
Neck Material: Roasted Quartersawn Maple
Neck Finish: Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Neck Shape: '60s Oval "C"
Fingerboard Radius: 9.5" to 12" Compound Radius
Fingerboard Material: Round-Laminated Rosewood
Position Inlays: Mother of Pearl Dot - 0.25"
Side Dots: Mother of Pearl
Number of Frets: 21
Fret Size: Narrow Tall (6105)
Truss Rod: Early '60s
Nut Material: Bone
Nut Width: 1.650" (42 mm)
Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm)

ELECTRONICS
Bridge Pickup: Custom Shop Hand-Wound Fat ’64 Single-Coil Strat
Middle Pickup: Custom Shop Hand-Wound RWRP Fat ’64 Single Coil Strat
Neck Pickup: Custom Shop Hand-Wound Fat ’64 Single Coil Strat
Pickup Configuration: SSS
Controls: Master Volume with Tone-Saver Treble-Bleed Circuit, Tone 1.
