fender-custom-shop-postmodern-telecaster-dlx-closet-classic
Fender Custom Shop Postmodern Telecaster DLX Closet Classic

This Postmodern Telecaster pairs a Custom Shop Hand-Wound '63 Single-Coil Tele at the bridge with a Wide-Range CuNiFe humbucker at the neck, the type first used on the seventies Telecaster Thinline, Custom and Deluxe. You keep the Tele bridge pickup and get a humbucker for the neck, through a three-way blade with master volume and tone.

The quartersawn maple neck has a '60s Oval "C" carve, a 9.5" to 12" compound radius and narrow tall 6105 frets, with a bone nut and a vintage-style strings-through-body bridge fitted with RSD saddles. The body is sassafras or two-piece select ash depending on finish, under a DLX Closet Classic nitro finish.

There are four versions: Aged Graffiti Yellow with Quartersawn Maple, Ebony Transparent with 3A Rosewood, Aged Violin Burst with Quartersawn Maple, and Aged Crimson Burst with Flat-Laminated Rosewood. For two single-coils and heavier wear, see the Postmodern Telecaster Journeyman Relic.

The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA
Body Material: Sassafras or 2-Piece Select Ash (by finish)
Body Finish: Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Body Shape: Telecaster
Pickguard: 3-Ply Black/White/Black or 3-Ply Parchment (by finish)
Aging: DLX Closet Classic

NECK
Neck Material: Quartersawn Maple
Neck Finish: Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Neck Shape: '60s Oval "C"
Fingerboard Radius: 9.5" to 12" Compound Radius
Fingerboard Material: Quartersawn Maple, 3A Rosewood or Flat-Laminated Rosewood (by finish)
Position Inlays: By finish, as shown
Number of Frets: 21
Fret Size: Narrow Tall (6105)
Truss Rod: Early '60s
Nut Material: Bone
Nut Width: 1.650" (42 mm)
Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm)

ELECTRONICS
Bridge Pickup: Custom Shop Hand-Wound '63 Single-Coil Tele
Neck Pickup: Wide-Range CuNiFe Humbucking
Pickup Configuration: SH
Controls: Master Volume, Master Tone
Switching: 3-Position Blade: Position 1.
