fender-eric-johnson-stratocaster-maple
Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster Maple

Eric Johnson is known for chasing tone down to the smallest detail, and his signature Stratocaster is built to his own specs. The light two-piece alder body has deep 1957-style contours and cavities, and the one-piece quartersawn maple neck carries a '57-style soft "V" with the contours sanded very smooth, under a gloss nitrocellulose finish.

The 12" radius maple fingerboard is flatter than vintage, so the action can sit low and wide bends stay clean, with 21 medium jumbo frets. Three Specially Voiced Eric Johnson Single-Coil pickups are mounted with countersunk screws, and the tone controls work the neck and bridge pickups, so the bridge pickup can be tamed. The tremolo has a silver-painted block, a '57-style string recess and five springs, with no back cover. Staggered vintage-style tuners round it out.

The Eric Johnson Stratocaster Rosewood has the same build with a bound rosewood board. For a recreation of one of his own vintage guitars, compare the Stories Collection Eric Johnson 1954 Virginia Stratocaster. Finishes are 2-Color Sunburst and White Blonde.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA
Body Material: Alder
Body Finish: Gloss Lacquer
Body Shape: Stratocaster
Pickguard: 1-Ply Parchment

NECK
Neck Material: 1-Piece Quartersawn Maple
Neck Finish: Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Neck Shape: Soft "V"
Fingerboard Radius: 12" (305 mm)
Fingerboard Material: Maple
Position Inlays: Black Dot
Number of Frets: 21
Fret Size: Medium Jumbo
Truss Rod: Vintage-Style Butt Adjust
Nut Material: Bone
Nut Width: 1.650" (42 mm)
Scale Length: 25.5" (648 mm)

ELECTRONICS
Bridge Pickup: Specially Voiced Eric Johnson Single-Coil with Countersunk Mounting Screws
Middle Pickup: Specially Voiced Eric Johnson Single-Coil with Countersunk Mounting Screws
Neck Pickup: Specially Voiced Eric Johnson Single-Coil with Countersunk Mounting Screws
Pickup Configuration: SSS
Controls: Master Volume, Tone 1.
