friedman-ir-j
Friedman IR-J Jake E. Lee Signature Tube Preamp and DI

The IR-J is Jake E. Lee's signature version of Friedman's tube preamp and DI. Two 12AX7s run at over 300 volts behind two independent footswitchable channels based on the JEL-100 and JEL-20 heads, and impulse-response cab and power amp simulation sits after them, all in a box 6.5 inches wide.

Channel 1 goes from bluesy British cleans to a Plexi-style roar. Channel 2 is the higher-gain JEL voice, and its two-position gain switch drops it to the classic 800-style circuit. Each channel has its own TS-style boost with Tone and Volume, so three footswitches get you four sounds. It ships with 18 Friedman IRs, some of them new ones from OwnHammer, picked per channel with a three-way switch or swapped for your own in the Friedman 4.3 Editor. The editor also sets Thump, Presence and Low-Pass Filter per channel and stores 128 MIDI presets.

Run it as a whole rig into a desk or headphones, as a preamp into a power amp and cab through the loop send, or as an IR loader alone through the loop return. The IR-X has a clean-to-gritty channel and a high-gain channel, and the IR-D has two identical Dirty Shirley/Twin Sister channels. The IR-J is the JEL-voiced one, and its per-channel TS boosts are a first in Friedman's IR line.

SPECIFICATIONS

AMPLIFIER
Country of Origin: United States
Configuration: All-tube HIGH-VOLTAGE preamp – DI
Signature: Jake E Lee Signature
Channels: Two independent channels + TS style boost per channel
Based On: Friedman's JEL-100 and JEL-20 designs

TUBES
Preamp Tubes: 2 x 12AX7

CONTROLS
Per Channel: Volume, Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble
Bright: 3-way Bright switch (per channel)
Gain Switch: 2-way Gain switch (Channel 2)
Boost: Boost Volume (top), Vol. (gain amount) and Tone controls (per channel) on side panel
CAB/IR Select: Three position switch per channel (programmable via software)
Footswitches: Three multi-function foot switches

CONNECTIONS
Effects Loop: Ultra-transparent series FX loop (bypassable)
Output: TRS balanced output
Headphones: Headphone output
MIDI: MIDI 5 pin standard connector and USB MIDI

FEATURES
Power amp simulation with software editable Presence, Thump and Low-Pass Filter (per channel)
Low latency Impulse Response cabinet simulation (bypassable)
IRs: 18 free Friedman IRs or load your own
MIDI Programmable: Channel select / Boost, IR select, Thump, Presence and Low-Pass Filter, Effects loop ON/OFF, Boost Lock
Presets: 128 MIDI presets
Software: USB software editor – powered by SYNERGY
Warranty: Limited 3-year Warranty

POWER
Power Supply: Universal 12V Power Supply Included

DIMENSIONS
Dimensions (Including Knobs): 5.5″ (D) x 6.5″ (W) x 2.3″ (H)
Weight: 1.5 lbs.

ACCESSORIES
Included: Universal 12V Power Supply, 6 Foot USB2.0 A Male to B Male cable
