friedman-jel-20-head
Friedman JEL-20 Jake E. Lee Signature Head

The JEL-20 is Jake E. Lee's 20-watt signature head with Dave Friedman: two channels, two EL84s and three 12AX7s in a Baltic birch head cabinet covered in red Tolex with white piping. Lee describes what he wanted as a classic Plexi and an '80s master volume amp in one head, and the two channels are split that way.

The JEL channel has Gain, Master and a push-pull Hi/Lo Gain switch. The Plexi channel has Gain, Volume and a Bright switch, and the two share Bass, Middle and Treble. A SAT switch adds gain, compression and saturation. Around the back there's an internal load and a cab-simulated XLR output with ground lift, level and axis switches, so you can record or send to front of house with no speaker cabinet connected.

The JEL-112 Cab is finished to match it. The JEL-50 Head is the bigger, hand-wired sibling, with 50 watts from two EL34s, rear-panel Thump and Presence and 4, 8 and 16 ohm jacks. Friedman doesn't list an XLR output or silent recording on the JEL-50, so if those matter to you, this is the one.

SPECIFICATIONS

AMPLIFIER
Country of Origin: United States
Configuration: Head
Wattage: 20-Watt All-Tube
Channels: 2 (JEL, Plexi)
Transformers: Custom Made Transformers
Construction: Assembled in the USA
Cabinet: Baltic birch, signature red Tolex with white piping

TUBES
Power Tubes: 2 x EL84
Preamp Tubes: 3 x 12AX7

CONTROLS
JEL Channel: Gain, Master, Bass, Middle, Treble, Push-Pull Hi/Lo Gain switch
Plexi Channel: Gain, Volume, Shared EQ and Bright Switch
Global: Presence Control
SAT Switch: Adds Gain, Compression & Saturation

CONNECTIONS
Effects Loop: Ultra-Transparent Series Effects Loop
XLR Cab Simulated Output: With Ground Lift, Axis and Level Switches
Silent Recording: Record Without Speaker Connected
Impedance Selector Switch: 8 & 16 ohm

FEATURES
Warranty: Limited 5 Year Warranty

DIMENSIONS
Dimensions: 8.5″ (D) x 18″ (W) x 8.25″ (H)
Weight: 22 lbs.

ACCESSORIES
Included: Foot Switch
