friedman-phil-x
Friedman Phil X Signature Head

The Phil X Signature is a single-channel, 100-watt head built for Phil X, the session and touring guitarist who has played for Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie. Four EL34s and four 12AX7s, one gain control, a full Bass, Middle, Treble and Presence, two master volumes, one of them a solo master, and a footswitchable boost for leads.

The idea is one channel you play from the guitar. Volume down gives a clean tone, volume up gives crunchy rhythm, and the boost takes it to a lead. A Gain Structure switch changes the gain of the whole amp, and a high and low voltage switch works the way a variac would. There is a line out with its own level control and a series effects loop. Black Tolex over tongue and groove Baltic Birch, hand-wired in the USA.

It shares its 100 watts, four EL34s and 43 lb. chassis with the BE-100 Deluxe and the SS-100 V2, which both run three channels. Pick the Phil X if you would rather ride your volume knob than switch channels.

SPECIFICATIONS

AMPLIFIER
Country of Origin: United States
Configuration: 100 Watt all-tube head
Channels: Single Channel + Solo Master
Construction: Hand-wired in the USA
Transformers: Custom USA made transformers

TUBES
Power Tubes: 4 x EL-34
Preamp Tubes: 4 x 12AX7

CONTROLS
Gain and Volume: Two master volumes and one gain control
EQ: Full EQ consisting of bass, middle, treble and presence
Gain Switch: varies the global gain structure of the amp
Voltage Switch: select high and low voltage (think variac)

CONNECTIONS
Line Out: Line out with level control
Effects Loop: Ultra transparent series FX loop
Impedance: 4, 8 and 16 ohm Impedance selector switch

CABINET
Construction: Black Tolex, tongue and groove Baltic Birch

FEATURES
Foot-switchable boost
Limited lifetime warranty

DIMENSIONS
Dimensions: 8.75″ (D) x 29.25″ (W) x 12.25″ (H)
Weight: 43 lbs.

ACCESSORIES
Footswitch: Single button footswitch with LED
