martin-000-28
Martin 000-28

The 000-28 is the Standard Series 000-14 fret guitar in East Indian rosewood under a spruce top, with Golden Era Scalloped X-bracing. It carries the Style 28 trim: bold herringbone around the top, antique white binding, heelcap and endpiece, a Style 28 multi-stripe rosette and abalone diamonds and squares in the long pattern on ebony. The neck is the Golden Era (GE) Modified Low Oval with a High-Performance Taper, a 1 3/4'' nut and a 24.9" scale.

There are three finishes, all gloss. Gloss has the Aging Toner top, Gloss 1933 Ambertone gives the spruce an amber colour across the whole top, and Gloss 1935 Sunburst shades it toward the edges. Our pick would be the 1933 Ambertone, which keeps the grain in full view while giving the herringbone and white binding a warmer top to sit against.

For mahogany on the same body, look at the 000-18. The 000-28 Modern Deluxe adds a VTS-treated European Red Spruce top and Liquidmetal pins, and the 00-28 is this guitar one size smaller.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA (Nazareth, Pennsylvania)
Body Size: 000-14 Fret
Construction: Dovetail Neck Joint
Back Material: East Indian Rosewood
Side Material: East Indian Rosewood
Back and Sides Finish: Gloss
Back and Sides Color: Natural
Back Purfling/Strip: Style 28 with Black Stripe
Back Inlay Material: Multi-Stripe
Bracing Pattern: X Brace
Brace Shape: Golden Era Scalloped
Brace Material: Spruce
Brace Size: 5/16"
Endpiece: Antique White
Endpiece Inlay: Multi-Stripe
Top Material: Spruce
Finish Top: Gloss
Top Color: Aging Toner (Gloss) / 1933 Ambertone (Gloss 1933 Ambertone) / 1935 Sunburst (Gloss 1935 Sunburst)
Top Inlay Material: Bold Herringbone
Binding: Antique White
Pickguard: Faux Tortoise
Rosette: Style 28 Multi-Stripe

NECK
Neck Shape: Golden Era (GE) Modified Low Oval
Neck Taper: High-Performance Taper
Neck Material: Select Hardwood
Neck Color: Dark Mahogany
Finish Neck: Satin
Scale Length: 24.9"
Number of Frets Total: 20
Neck Joins Body At: 14th Fret
Heelcap: Antique White
Fingerboard Material: Ebony
Fingerboard Width at 12th Fret: 2 1/8''
Fingerboard Width at Nut: 1 3/4''
Fingerboard Inlay Style: Diamonds and Squares Long Pattern
Fingerboard Inlay Material: Abalone
Side Dots: White
Headstock Shape: Solid with Square Taper and Diamond
Headplate Material: East Indian Rosewood
Headplate Logo Style: Script Old Style Overlay
Pleked: Yes

HARDWARE
Bridge Material: Ebony
Bridge Style: Golden Era Modern Belly - Drop-In Saddle
Bridge String Spacing: 2 5/32"
Bridge Pin Material: Bone
Bridge Pin Dots: Faux Tortoise
Saddle: Compensated Bone
Saddle Radius: 16"
Tuning Machines: Nickel Open Gear
Knob: Butterbean
Nut Material: Bone

CASE
Case: Molded Hardshell
