martin-om-28-modern-deluxe
Martin OM-28 Modern Deluxe

The OM-28 Modern Deluxe takes the rosewood OM, a 000 body on the 25.4" scale, and builds it with Martin's newer parts. The European red spruce top and the Adirondack spruce braces are both VTS, the bridgeplate is carbon fibre, and the neck is the asymmetrical Vintage Deluxe in select mahogany with a Standard Taper. That taper leaves 2 1/4" at the 12th fret, and the bridge spacing is 2 1/4" as well, against 2 1/8" and 2 5/32" on the OM-28, so the picking hand gets a little more room.

European flamed maple binds the body and forms the endpiece and heelcap, a 1933 CFM script logo is inlaid in the East Indian rosewood headplate, the bridge pins are Liquidmetal with red dots, and the tuners are Waverly gold open gear. Bold herringbone and the Style 28 rosette stay, with abalone diamonds and squares and abalone side dots on the ebony board.

It suits an OM player who wants the 28 recipe with a slightly wider neck. It comes in one Natural finish with a clear gloss top. The same model is also listed with a Fishman Aura VT Blend, and for this build on a dreadnought, look at the D-28 Modern Deluxe.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA (Nazareth, Pennsylvania)
Body Size: 000-14 Fret
Construction: Dovetail Neck Joint
Back Material: East Indian Rosewood
Side Material: East Indian Rosewood
Back and Sides Finish: Gloss
Back Purfling/Strip: Zig-Zag Authentic
Back Inlay Material: Multi-Stripe
Bracing Pattern: X-Brace
Brace Shape: GE-Scalloped
Brace Material: Adirondack Spruce with VTS
Brace Size: 1/4"
Endpiece: European Flamed Maple
Endpiece Inlay: Multi-Stripe
Top Material: European Red Spruce w/ VTS
Finish Top: Gloss
Top Color: Clear
Top Inlay Material: Bold Herringbone
Binding: European Flamed Maple
Pickguard: Tortoise Pattern
Rosette: Style 28 Multi-Stripe

NECK
Neck Shape: Vintage Deluxe
Neck Taper: Standard Taper
Neck Material: Select Mahogany
Neck Color: Dark Mahogany
Finish Neck: Satin
Scale Length: 25.4"
Number of Frets Total: 20
Neck Joins Body At: 14th Fret
Heelcap: European Flamed Maple
Fingerboard Material: Ebony
Fingerboard Width at 12th Fret: 2 1/4''
Fingerboard Width at Nut: 1 3/4''
Fingerboard Inlay Style: Diamonds and Squares Long Pattern
Fingerboard Inlay Material: Abalone
Side Dots: Abalone
Headstock Shape: Solid with Square Taper and Diamond
Headplate Material: East Indian Rosewood
Headplate Logo Style: 1933 CFM Script Inlay
Pleked: Yes

HARDWARE
Bridge Material: Ebony
Bridge Style: Modern Belly - Drop in Saddle
Bridge String Spacing: 2 1/4''
Bridge Pin Material: Liquidmetal®
Bridge Pin Dots: Red Acrylic
Saddle: Compensated Bone
Saddle Radius: 16"
Tuning Machines: Waverly® Gold Open Gear
Knob: Butterbean
Nut Material: Bone

CASE
Case: Ply Hardshell
