suhr-koji-compressor-black-edition
Suhr Koji Compressor Black Edition

The Koji is an analog compressor with a Mix knob for parallel compression, blending the compressed signal with your dry signal anywhere from 10% to 100%. Kept low, the compression stays transparent and smooths out rhythm parts. Turned up, it reaches the warm, squishy sound Suhr points to for country and R&B. Suhr states the circuit and tone are identical to the original Koji.

Comp, Level and Attack set the amount of gain reduction, the make-up gain and how fast the compressor reacts, with attack running from 1ms to 100ms. A three-position Voice switch tunes the top end: left lifts the upper mids to bring out picking attack, middle is flat, and right lifts the upper mids and treble. The LED changes from green to orange to red to show how much gain reduction is happening.

The Woodshed Comp Andy Wood Signature takes a different route: Suhr describes the Koji as a feed-back VCA design and the Woodshed as feed-forward, with more headroom.

SPECIFICATIONS

FEATURES
Country of Origin: United States
Type: Analog Compressor
Gain Reduction Indicator: 3 Color LED (green, orange, red)
Bypass: Selectable true bypass or buffered bypass (internal switch)

CONTROLS
COMP: Amount of compression (gain reduction)
LEVEL: Overall output level
ATTACK: How quickly the compressor responds above threshold
Attack Time Range: 1MS-100MS
MIX: Dry to compressed signal, 10% - 100%
3-Position Voice Switch: Left (upper midrange boost), Middle (flat), Right (upper midrange and treble boost)

CONNECTIONS
Input Impedance: 1M Ohm
Output Impedance: 600 Ohm
FX Link Connector: 1/8" Mono
FX Link Max Voltage: 3.3Vdc
Shield → Tip: Activate On/Off

POWER
Power Connector: 9Vdc regulated, center negative, 2.1mm x 5.5mm
Operating Voltage: 5V to 18V (nominal 9V)
Maximum Voltage: 20Vdc
Reverse Battery Protection: Yes
Over Voltage Protection: Yes
Estimated Battery Life: 40-50 hours of continuous use
ROHS Compliant: Yes

DIMENSIONS
Dimensions: 2.5"(W) x 4.5"(D) x 1.25"(H)
Weight: 0.75lb
