taylor-builders-edition-514ce-next-generation
Taylor Next Generation Builder's Edition 514ce

The Builder's Edition 514ce sets a solid Sitka spruce top on back and sides of Shamel ash, a wood Taylor sources through its urban wood program. Taylor hears a dry, woody midrange from it, with a strong fundamental and restrained overtones, and the scalloped V-Class bracing adds low end, open-string resonance and projection.

The Builder's Edition comfort package is all here, with chamfered edges, a bevelled armrest and a cutaway bevelled to match. The Action Control Neck lets you set the feel you want, and Claria electronics take care of the amplified side. Gotoh 510 tuners in antique chrome, Compass inlays and a firestripe pickguard dress it, with gloss on the body and satin on the neck.

It comes in Natural or Tobacco Kona Burst. The Natural is the one we'd point to if the ash grain is what drew you in, since it leaves both woods in full view. For the same ash back under a mahogany top, see the Builder's Edition 524ce. The Next Generation 514ce is the cedar-top 500 Series model, with mahogany back and sides.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA
Body Shape: Grand Auditorium
Cutaway: Beveled Cutaway
Bracing System: Scalloped V-Class Bracing with Relief Rout
Number of Strings: 6 String
Top Wood: Spruce
Back/Side Wood: Shamel Ash
Rosette: Faux Pearl Single Ring
Back Configuration: 2-piece or 4-piece Simons Wedge
Body Binding: No Binding; Chamfered Edges
Armrest: Beveled Neo-tropical Mahogany
Top Finish: Gloss
Back/Side Finish: Gloss

NECK
Neck Wood: Neo-Tropical Mahogany
Fretboard Wood: West African Crelicam Ebony
Neck Profile: Standard Carve
Fretboard Inlay: Faux Pearl Compass
Fretboard Binding: West African Crelicam Ebony
Neck Finish: Satin
Nut Width: 1-3/4"
Peghead Veneer Wood: West African Crelicam Ebony
Scale Length: 25-1/2"
Peghead Inlay: Faux Pearl Compass
Peghead Type: Paddle, Standard
Peghead Binding: None
Peghead Finish: Satin

ELECTRONICS
Electronics: The Claria Acoustic Pickup System

HARDWARE
Bridge: West African Crelicam Ebony
Nut & Saddle: Black Tusq Nut, White Micarta Saddle
Bridge Pins: West African Crelicam Ebony
Strings: D'Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze Light (.012 - .053)
Pickguard: Firestripe
Tuners: Gotoh 510 Antique Chrome with Antique Chrome Buttons
Strap Pin: Black
End Pin: Black

CASE
Case/Bag: Brown Taylor Deluxe Hard Shell Case

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0700/1220/7188/files/Taylor-Builder-s-Edition-514ce-2026-Spec-1211195092-FrontLeft-2026_sq.jpg?v=1791348501
