tom-anderson-bobcat-special
Tom Anderson Bobcat Special

The Bobcat Special is the Bobcat on an all-mahogany slab body, with no carved top. It keeps the 24-3/4" scale, the mahogany neck and the 3-a-side headstock with its nearly straight string pull, and Anderson rounds the front and back edges of the body for comfort.

Its lower horn follows the Raven Superbird: shorter, cut deeper and turned slightly outward, so the highest frets are easier to reach and the guitar balances well when you play seated. Anderson credits the mahogany for the Special's strong midrange.

The Special suits a player who wants the Bobcat's feel and scale on a solid mahogany body. For the carved maple top, look at the Bobcat. For a Floyd Rose on a mahogany body, the Bobcat Locker. For the same body with one bridge pickup, the Bobcat Cub.

The guitar in the photo is one customer's build in Black with Bora Dog Hair, shown as an example. Every Anderson is built to order: after you order, we go through the build with you, from the woods and finish to the neck shape, frets, pickups and hardware.

Price subject to change based on options chosen.

SPECIFICATIONS

BODY
Country of Origin: USA (Newbury Park, California)
Model: Tom Anderson Bobcat Special
Body: Mahogany body (or a mahogany-like wood)
Body Woods: Mahogany
Pickguard: None
Finish: Gloss or satin

NECK
Neck: Mahogany back, rosewood fingerboard
Scale Length: 24-3/4"
Frets: Stainless steel; Heavy, Medium-Jumbo, Tall-Thin, Small or Jumbo
Nut Width: 1-5/8" or 1-11/16"
Neck Profile: Any Anderson neck shape

ELECTRONICS
Pickups: Any Anderson Pickupworks model
Switching: 3-way or 5-way

HARDWARE
Bridge: Wrap-around (standard), Tune-o-matic with stop tailpiece, vintage tremolo or fixed bridge
Tuners: Locking or split shaft
Hardware: Chrome or nickel
Strings: D'Addario XS coated, 10-46

CASE
Case: Anderson logo gig bag
