Our take

Who this one is for

A '50s Stratocaster on the outside, with a modern player's neck and electronics underneath. The body is ash or alder depending on the finish, under an Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer that comes aged, with a 1-ply parchment pickguard and aged white covers. Three Pure Vintage '57 single-coils give it the right voice for the era.

The neck is where it parts ways with 1957. A quartersawn maple Modern "D" with rolled edges, a 10" to 14" compound radius that stays round near the nut for chords and flattens up high so bends don't choke, and 22 medium jumbo stainless steel frets that won't wear the way nickel does. A tapered heel opens up the top of the neck. The S-1 switch on the volume knob adds the neck pickup into positions 1 and 2, so you get bridge plus neck, and all three together.

For the period neck and hardware, the American Vintage II 1957 Stratocaster uses the same pickups on a 7.25" radius "V" neck. Offered in White Blonde and 3-Color Sunburst, both with a maple fingerboard.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Want an estimate for this model before you order? Ask us in the chat.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
