Taylor guitars at Lauzon Music
What Taylor is known for
Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug started Taylor in 1974, and players have long picked them for how easily they play. Since 2011 Andy Powers has led the design, and his V-Class bracing is built for sustain, volume and pitch accuracy up the neck. The 2025 Gold Label line goes further, with a warmer, vintage-leaning voice and Powers' new Super Auditorium body.

Questions
Taylor questions, answered
What do Taylor model numbers mean?
The first digit is the series, which sets the back and side woods. The second digit tells you the top: 1 is spruce, 2 is a hardwood top like mahogany, and 5 or 6 means a 12-string. The third digit is the body shape, so 4 is Grand Auditorium and 2 is Grand Concert. A "c" means cutaway and an "e" means electronics. A 314ce is a 300 Series Grand Auditorium with a spruce top, a cutaway and a pickup.
Taylor or Martin?
It comes down to the sound you hear in your head. Players tend to describe Taylor as clear and articulate with very easy necks, and Martin as warmer and earthier. Taylor's Gold Label line now leans toward that warmer voice too. Ask us in the chat and we'll compare specific models with you.
314ce or 814ce: is the 800 Series worth it?
Both are solid wood Grand Auditoriums with a Sitka spruce top, a cutaway and Taylor's ES2 pickup. The 314ce has sapele back and sides; the 814ce has Indian rosewood, which players tend to hear as a deeper low end and more overtone, plus V-Class bracing and the 800 Series appointments. Play both if you can.
Where are Taylor guitars made?
In Taylor's own factories in El Cajon, California and Tecate, Mexico. Taylor doesn't build guitars anywhere else.
Can you order a Taylor that isn't in stock?
Yes. Any current Taylor model can be ordered through our Catalogue, paid in full or with a 25% deposit, and it gets the same setup before it ships.
