Ordering guide
Ordering a Fender Custom Shop from Lauzon Music
The current Fender Custom Shop range
The Custom Shop range is organised in families, each with its own idea of what a Fender should be, and most models come in a choice of aging, from a clean NOS finish to Super Heavy Relic.
- Time Machine. Year-specific Strats, Teles, Jazzmasters, Jaguars and basses from 1951 to 1975, in NOS, Closet Classic and Relic levels
- Vintage Custom. Early and transitional versions of classic models, like the Pine Esquire and the Top-Load Telecaster, some with the Time Capsule finish
- American Custom. Strats, Teles and a Jazz Bass with modern features and Custom Shop build quality
- Postmodern. Vintage looks paired with modern materials and features
- Artisan. Special woods and appointments: koa, korina, maple burl and buckeye burl
- Artist signature models. Custom Shop builds for players like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rory Gallagher
What a Fender Custom Shop costs to order
Current Fender Custom Shop models in the Catalogue run from about $5,000 to $11,000. NOS and lighter aging sit toward the lower end, Heavy Relic, Artisan and signature builds toward the top.
Ordering a Fender Custom Shop through us
You choose the model, the finish and the aging level it's offered in. Lauzon Music is one of only two Fender Custom Shop Showcase dealers in Canada, so we put the order in with the Custom Shop directly, and when it lands our tech, a Fender Custom Shop Technician, sets it up on our bench before it ships insured. Questions
Fender Custom Shop questions, answered
Can I spec my own Fender Custom Shop guitar?
Yes. As a Fender Custom Shop Showcase dealer we can put in Team Built and Masterbuilt orders to your spec, from neck profile to finish and aging. Start on our custom shop orders page. The models on this page are the current Custom Shop range, ordered as listed.
What's the difference between Time Machine and Vintage Custom?
Time Machine models recreate a specific year of a classic Fender, with a choice of aging. Vintage Custom goes after the early, transitional and first-run versions of those models, like the 1950 Pine Esquire, and uses Fender's Time Capsule finish on some of them.
Which aging levels can I order?
Each listing names its level: NOS, Closet Classic, Journeyman Relic, Relic, Heavy Relic or Super Heavy Relic. The neck, pickups and build spec don't change with the aging, so pick the look and feel you want.
Pre-orders
Pre-order questions
How much do I pay today?
Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.
When will it arrive?
It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.
Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.
What if the price goes up before it arrives?
You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.
Is the setup included?
Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup on our bench before it ships.
Can I finance it?
Paying in full: yes, if you're in Canada. Choose PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything.
Paying a 25% deposit: the deposit can't be financed, and it's paid by card or PayPal.
More on Financing.
Can I pay with Shop Pay or Apple Pay?
Not on a deposit: Shopify only takes a pre-order deposit by card or PayPal. Pay in full and checkout works as usual.
