Ordering guide
Ordering a Taylor from Lauzon Music
The current Taylor range
Taylor's model numbers do most of the sorting: the first digit is the series, which sets the back and side woods. Alongside the numbered series sit Next Generation, Gold Label, Builder's Edition, Legacy and Somos, the T5z, and the compact GS Mini and Baby Taylor.
- Next Generation. Scalloped V-Class bracing, the Action Control Neck and Claria electronics, across the 300 to 800 Series and select Builder's Edition models
- Gold Label. A warmer, vintage-leaning Taylor voice, including Andy Powers' Super Auditorium body
- Builder's Edition. Taylor's Builder's Edition collection, with its own appointments and tonewood pairings like Honduran rosewood with sinker redwood
- Legacy. A retrospective line drawn from Bob Taylor's early builds, from the Legacy 810e dreadnought to the 855e jumbo 12-string
- Somos. Taylor's Latin-inspired family: the bajo quinto and the Doce Doble, a 12-string with every pair tuned in unison
- 100 and 200 Series. From the 110ce and 114ce to the 214ce, and the 200 Series Plus and DLX models
- GS Mini and Baby Taylor. Compact guitars for travel and the couch, including the GS Mini-e Bass
What a Taylor costs to order
Current Taylor models in the Catalogue run from about $600 to $17,300. Builder's Edition, Gold Label and Presentation models sit at the upper end. Each listing shows the price for that model.
Ordering a Taylor through us
Pick the model from Taylor's current range; the model number tells you the series, the top and the body shape, and whether it has a cutaway and electronics. We put the order in with Taylor, and when it lands it goes over the bench of our tech, a Taylor Gold Level Technician, before it ships insured. See the Taylor guitars in stock now.
Questions
Taylor questions, answered
What's a Next Generation Taylor?
Taylor's name for guitars built with three updates together: scalloped V-Class bracing, the Action Control Neck, which lets string height be adjusted through the soundhole, and the Claria pickup system. Only models with Next Generation in the name have all three. They run through the 300 to 800 Series and select Builder's Edition guitars.
Should I order a Gold Label or a Next Generation Taylor?
It comes down to the voice you want. Gold Label guitars are voiced warmer, with a vintage lean. Next Generation guitars carry Taylor's newest bracing, neck and pickup. Ask us in the chat and we'll compare two specific models with you.
Can I order a Taylor 12-string or nylon-string?
Yes. The page carries 12-strings like the 254ce, 454ce, 854ce and the Legacy 855e, nylon-string models with an N in the name like the 314ce-N and 814ce-N, and the Somos bajo quinto and Doce Doble.
Which smaller Taylors can I order?
The GS Mini in mahogany, sapele, koa and rosewood versions, the GS Mini-e Bass, the Baby Taylor and Big Baby, and the Academy 10e, 12e and 22e.
Pre-orders
Pre-order questions
How much do I pay today?
Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.
When will it arrive?
It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.
Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.
What if the price goes up before it arrives?
You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.
Is the setup included?
Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup on our bench before it ships.
Can I finance it?
Paying in full: yes, if you're in Canada. Choose PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything.
Paying a 25% deposit: the deposit can't be financed, and it's paid by card or PayPal.
More on Financing.
Can I pay with Shop Pay or Apple Pay?
Not on a deposit: Shopify only takes a pre-order deposit by card or PayPal. Pay in full and checkout works as usual.
