Who this one is for

This Builder's Edition 814ce pairs an Adirondack spruce top with Honduran rosewood back and sides, the back laid out in four pieces with a Simons wedge. Taylor credits the combination with a layered response, warm lows and clear, ringing trebles, and the scalloped V-Class bracing adds volume and sustain while keeping notes in tune up the neck.

The body is contoured where your arm and hand meet it: chamfered edges, a bevelled armrest and a cutaway bevelled to match. The Action Control Neck makes string height a quick job, and the Claria system is designed to sound natural plugged in without much EQ work.

Element inlays in mother-of-pearl, a green abalone rosette, an Indian rosewood pickguard and Gotoh 510 tuners in antique gold sit under a gloss Shaded Edgeburst.

There are three Builder's Edition 814ce versions in this catalogue. The Indian Rosewood/Adirondack Spruce shares this top, and the Honduran Rosewood/Sinker Redwood keeps this back and sides under a redwood top. The Next Generation 814ce is Indian rosewood and spruce with a radius armrest and Venetian cutaway in place of the bevels.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
