The current Gibson Custom Shop range
Gibson Custom builds its electrics in Nashville and its acoustics in Bozeman, Montana. Most of the range is the Historic Collection, reissues of specific years with neck profiles and body carves 3D-scanned from vintage examples, offered in VOS or in Murphy Lab aging. Modern Custom models and artist guitars sit alongside.
- Historic Les Paul. The 1954 to 1960 Standards, Goldtops, Customs, Juniors and Specials, plus the 1968 Les Paul Custom, for players who want a particular year's neck and feel
- Historic ES. The 1959 ES-335 and ES-355, the 1961 and 1964 ES-335, and the ES-330 reissues
- SG, Firebird and the modernist shapes. 1961 to 1964 SG reissues, the 1963 Firebird V, and the 1958 Korina and Mahogany Flying V and Explorer, with the 1957 Moderne and Futura
- Murphy Lab. Historic builds hand-aged at Gibson Custom in four levels, from Ultra Light Aged to Ultra Heavy Aged, so the guitar looks and feels played
- Modern Custom and artist models. The gloss Les Paul Custom, the Les Paul Axcess, and artist guitars like the Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck and the B.B. King Lucille Legacy
- Custom Shop acoustics. Built in Bozeman: the 1942 Banner J-45, 1957 SJ-200, 1936 Advanced Jumbo and 1960 Hummingbird reissues, plus artist acoustics
What a Gibson Custom Shop guitar costs to order
Current Gibson Custom models in the Catalogue run from about $4,500 to $27,000. Where a guitar lands depends mostly on the model, the top and how much aging it carries. Each listing shows the price for that model and finish.

Questions
Gibson Custom Shop questions, answered
Can I order a Gibson Custom Shop guitar built to my own spec?
Yes. Gibson's Made to Measure program builds a Custom Shop guitar to a written spec: the top, the finish, the neck and the hardware. We write the spec up with you and put it in with Gibson Custom. Start on our custom shop orders page.
Which aging can I choose on a Historic Gibson order?
Historic guitars come in VOS, a light vintage patina on the finish, or in Murphy Lab aging: Ultra Light, Light, Heavy or Ultra Heavy Aged. Gibson doesn't offer every level on every model, so each listing shows what's available for that guitar.
Do Gibson Custom Shop orders come with a certificate?
Yes. Gibson Custom guitars ship with a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case. The case depends on the model; many of the 1950s reissues come in a Lifton case.
Can I order a Gibson Custom Shop acoustic?
Yes. Gibson Custom's acoustics are built in Bozeman, Montana, and the current range is on this page: Historic reissues like the 1942 Banner J-45, the 1957 SJ-200 and the 1936 Advanced Jumbo, some with Murphy Lab aging, plus artist models.
Pre-orders
Pre-order questions
How much do I pay today?
Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.
When will it arrive?
It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.
Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.
What if the price goes up before it arrives?
You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.
Is the setup included?
Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup on our bench before it ships.
Can I finance it?
Paying in full: yes, if you're in Canada. Choose PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything.
Paying a 25% deposit: the deposit can't be financed, and it's paid by card or PayPal.
More on Financing.
Can I pay with Shop Pay or Apple Pay?
Not on a deposit: Shopify only takes a pre-order deposit by card or PayPal. Pay in full and checkout works as usual.
