Consignment
We’ll sell your guitar for you
It goes on our wall, in front of people who already buy at this level, photographed the way we photograph our own stock. You get the call when it moves.
Why here
What your guitar gets
Three things a private sale cannot give it.
Our wall
1345 Wellington Street West, and the same family behind the counter since 1945. Buyers come in to stand in front of an instrument before they commit to it, and the ones who cannot get here ask us to take it down, plug it in and tell them what we see.
A guitar in a case at your house gets none of that.
Ottawa, since 1945 · Three generations
Our audience
The people who buy here already know the difference between a masterbuilt and a team build, and they are watching for what lands next. Instagram, YouTube, the podcast, and a customer list three generations deep.
Your instrument goes in front of that, not in front of whoever happens to be searching.

Our photography
Every instrument we list is shot in our own studio before it goes up, and where there is video, that goes up with it.
A used listing lives or dies on whether the buyer can see what they are actually getting.

The process
How it works
From the first email to the day it leaves the wall.
-
Tell us what you have
Make, model, year, serial and condition, plus what you are hoping to get for it. Phone photographs are fine at this stage: the top, the back, the headstock and the serial number.
-
We come back with a number
We price it against what this market is actually paying, not against what a classified listing is asking. You get the number and the reasoning behind it.
What it goes up at is your call. You can move the price whenever you like, and you can take an offer under it.
-
Getting it here
Ottawa and the valley bring it in. Everyone else ships it to Wellington Street.
If it is coming by freight, talk to us before you send it. We will walk you through packing and settle the shipping and insurance before it leaves you.
-
On the wall, and online
It hangs with the rest of the used stock, it goes through the studio, and it goes up on the site with its own photographs. It sits in the same secure, clean, climate-controlled room as everything else we sell.
It goes up in playing condition. If it needs work first, that cost is yours: it comes off the sale, or you settle it when you collect the instrument.
-
It sells, and you get paid
You get the call when it moves. Our commission is 30% of the final selling price, and the rest of it is yours.
We settle up two to four weeks after the sale, once the return window has closed and the sale is final.
You choose how it reaches you: an e-transfer, a cheque to pick up or have mailed, or store credit against something else in the shop.

The terms
Everything you would want in writing before you hand over an instrument.
What does it cost me?
Our commission is 30% of the final selling price.
If the instrument needs work before it can be sold — a setup, a repair, an adjustment — that cost is yours. It comes off the proceeds, or you settle it when you collect the instrument.
How long does it stay on the wall?
Until it sells, or until it comes back to you. We can also hand it back at any point, and that costs you nothing.
While it is listed with us, you agree not to advertise it for sale anywhere else.
Who is responsible for it while you have it?
It is kept and shown in a secure, clean, climate-controlled room, the same one the rest of our stock lives in.
Ask us how yours is covered before you sign, and we will give you the specifics for your instrument.
Is there a minimum value?
We do not set one. What works on consignment is gear with a real second-hand market, so tell us what you have and we will give you a straight answer on whether it is worth putting on the wall.
When do I get paid?
What you get is the final selling price less our 30% commission, and less anything owed for work the instrument needed.
We pay out two to four weeks after it sells. The wait is the return window - we settle once the sale is final rather than pay you and then have to unwind it.
You choose how it reaches you: an e-transfer, a cheque to pick up or have mailed, or store credit against something else in the shop.
What if it does not sell?
You can take it back. Inside 120 days of the agreement that carries a $50 administration fee. We can also hand it back to you at any point, and that costs you nothing.
The asking price stays yours the whole time it is here, so if it is sitting, you can move it.
If it came to us by freight, ask about the ride home when you want it back. We have not put a blanket rule on that one.
Is there anything to sign?
A short agreement, ten clauses long. It records the instrument and the asking price you set, and the terms it carries are the ones on this page.
You confirm on it that the guitar is yours to sell and that it is in proper working and playing order.
Do you take trades?
No. Consignment is how a used instrument gets onto our wall, and it stays yours until it sells.

Tell us what you have and we will come back with a number and the terms. No obligation either way.
