We specced this '64 Telecaster Custom live on our podcast, in an episode where we sat down and built dream guitars on paper. The Fender Custom Shop built it for real.
The body is two-piece alder, bound top and bottom in tortoise and finished in 3-Tone Sunburst Sparkle. NOS, so no aging. A four-ply tortoiseshell pickguard and gold hardware throughout set it off.
The pickups are a pair of gold Lollartrons, Jason Lollar's Filter'Tron-style humbucker, in place of the usual Tele single-coils. They sit ahead of a chopped Tele 3-saddle bridge.
The neck is roasted quartersawn maple with a slab ebony board, white pearloid block inlays, a 9.5" radius and 6150 frets. The profile is a '60s oval "C", .790" at the first fret and .930" at the twelfth. It weighs 8 lb 4 oz.
One of a kind.
