Why this one made the wall

This is the exact spec of the Mike McCready Stratocaster, built by the Fender Custom Shop as a Team Built guitar without his name on it. It has become one of our regular Custom Shop orders, and this one we had built left-handed.

Faded 3-Color Sunburst over a two-piece alder body, taken to Super Heavy Relic, with a 3-ply mint green pickguard.

The neck is AA flame maple in a medium-tint nitrocellulose finish, carved to a '60 style oval "C" at .790" at the first fret and .930" at the twelfth. Rosewood fingerboard, 9.5" radius, 21 medium vintage frets and a bone nut.

Hand-wound Fat '60s Strat pickups, with a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle so positions two and four are hum-cancelling. Ships in the Fender Custom Shop brown case with the certificate of authenticity.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

What if it is not right when it arrives?
