Provenance

Why this one made the wall

Austin MacNutt built this '59 Telecaster Custom for us at the Fender Custom Shop, to a spec we wrote, and the whole build started from the confetti binding. It runs top and bottom and it's the one loud colour on the guitar. We kept everything else quiet so the binding could carry it: a sorted 5A flame maple top in Transparent White, all the figure there and none of it competing, over a mahogany body. NOS, so no aging.

Maple over mahogany borrows from the Les Paul, and the electronics follow it there. Two ThroBak SLE-101 humbuckers in nickel, which we rate among the best humbuckers being made right now. No pickguard. Two volumes and two tones, a 3-way toggle on the upper bout, and a fixed six-saddle vintage Strat hardtail, strung through the body, rather than a tune-o-matic. It's a Tele with a few other guitars folded into it.

The neck is 4A roasted flame maple, something we spec on a lot of our builds, carved to a '59 Esquire "C": .790" at the first fret and .970" at the twelfth. That's a full neck with real shoulder to it, for players who want something to hold onto. Slab AAA rosewood board, 9.5" radius, 6150 frets, bone nut. The headcap is painted to match the body, with the Fender logo inlaid in abalone.

One of a kind.

Frequently asked

Questions we get

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

Ian's work is described on Repairs and tuning.

What if it is not right when it arrives?

You have 48 hours from the moment it arrives to decide. Email shop@lauzonmusic.com inside that window and we will authorize the return. Nothing comes back unauthorized.

Exchange it for something else and there is no restocking fee, though you cover the shipping on the instrument going back. On a straight refund it is 10% plus the actual shipping both ways.

The full terms are on Shipping and returns.

Can I pay for it over time?

Canadian buyers can pay over time with PayPlan by RBC, chosen as the payment method at checkout. The exact terms come from RBC and are shown to you before you agree to anything.

Financing never changes the price of the guitar. More on Financing.
