Our take

Who this one is for

This Builder's Edition 914ce sets a Lutz spruce top on Indian rosewood back and sides. Taylor voices it with clear trebles, deep lows and a slight dip in the mids, surrounded by overtones that grow as notes ring out, and the scalloped V-Class bracing adds power, warmth and open-string response.

The long-tenon Action Control Neck adds resonance and makes the feel easy to adjust, and Claria electronics handle the amplified side. The body has the Builder's Edition contours, with a bevelled armrest and cutaway and chamfered edges.

As a 900 Series guitar it's dressed in wood and shell: Belle Fleur inlays, a paua rosette, black, paua and black edge trim, and koa purfling along the fretboard and peghead. Gotoh 510 tuners in antique gold and a full gloss finish in Natural complete it.

The other Builder's Edition 914ce here uses Honduran rosewood and sinker redwood. For a 914ce in Indian rosewood with traditional X-bracing, an Engelmann spruce top and LR Baggs electronics, look at the Legacy 914ce.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
