Who this one is for

The Next Generation 854ce is a 12-string Grand Auditorium in solid Indian rosewood and Sitka spruce, with V-Class bracing and Claria electronics. V-Class adds volume and sustain and keeps notes in tune with one another up the neck, which on a 12-string is what keeps the octave pairs clean. Claria puts its controls at the soundhole, mid-contour knob included, so the plugged-in sound is quick to set.

Taylor voices it with a complex response: sparkle on top, warmth underneath and a lot of overtone in between. The neck is the slim standard carve with a 1-7/8" nut.

The appointments are maple binding with black, maple and rosewood edge trim, a green abalone rosette, mother-of-pearl Element inlays, an Indian rosewood pickguard and smoked nickel tuners. The radius-style rosewood armrest rounds off the edge under the strumming arm. For the same woods and body with Weathervane inlays and black binding, look at the Next Generation 454ce. For Honduran rosewood and an Adirondack spruce top, the Next Generation PS54ce.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
