Who this one is for

The Next Generation PS54ce is a 12-string Grand Auditorium in Honduran rosewood, a dense, hard tonewood, with an Adirondack spruce top and V-Class bracing. Taylor voices it with clear trebles, warm bass and a wide dynamic range, and it keeps its clarity when strummed hard.

The neck is the Action Control Neck, which lets string height be set precisely in seconds, on a long tenon that adds sustain and resonance. Claria electronics put volume, mid-contour and tone at the soundhole.

Paua California Vine inlays run up the ebony fretboard, with mother-of-pearl and paua on the peghead, a paua rosette and purfling, and ebony binding on the body, neck and peghead. The back is four-piece with a Simons wedge, and the back and sides carry a shaded edgeburst. The armrest is radius-style ebony, the pickguard Indian rosewood and the tuners antique gold Gotoh 510s.

For Indian rosewood and Sitka spruce on the same body, with V-Class and Claria, look at the Next Generation 854ce.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
