Our take

Who this one is for

The Gold Label 814e brings Honduran rosewood back and sides to the Super Auditorium, the shape Taylor built a little larger than its Grand Auditorium, under a torrefied Sitka spruce top. Taylor describes strong lows, clear trebles and overtones that open up as a note rings, and credits the fanned V-Class bracing with longer sustain, more volume and better pitch accuracy up the neck.

A long-tenon Action Control Neck adds resonance and makes string height a precise adjustment. The trim is built around mother-of-pearl Continental inlays, with an engraved ivoroid and tortoise pickguard, grained ivoroid trim, Gotoh 510 antique chrome tuners with ebony buttons and bone bridge pins, under a full gloss finish. Electronics are an LR Baggs Element VTC.

It comes in Natural or Sunburst. The Natural leaves the roasted top's golden-brown colour showing, and the Sunburst shades it. For the same back and sides under a torrefied Adirondack top, look at the Gold Label 914e. The K14e is this body in Hawaiian koa, and the 714e in Indian rosewood.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
