Who this one is for

The Vintage Custom 1955 Stratocaster recreates a Strat from the second year of production, with a few rare details from those early guitars. An ash body in Wide-Fade 2-Color Sunburst under unaged flash coat lacquer that lets some of the grain show, a rift sawn maple neck with a 1954 "U" carve, and three Custom Shop Hand-Wound '55 Single-Coil Strat pickups under eggshell covers.

The "U" carve is a full, rounded neck. The 7.25" to 9.5" compound radius is rounder near the nut for chords and flatter up the neck, so bends are less likely to fret out, and the medium vintage frets are a touch larger than vintage size. The two tone controls work on the neck and middle pickups, leaving the bridge pickup without one. The bridge is an American Vintage synchronized tremolo.

For the same pickups with no tremolo, look at the Vintage Custom '55 Hardtail Strat. The 1955 Stratocaster DLX Closet Classic is a lightly aged take on the same year, and the Vintage Custom '57 Stratocaster moves two years on.

It comes in Wide-Fade 2-Color Sunburst with a maple fingerboard.

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. After you order, we check with the supplier and email you an ETA. If it changes, we let you know, and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
