The Vintage Custom 1962 Stratocaster is a rare one: a maple fingerboard in an era when rosewood was standard, based on a handful of original examples. An alder body in 3-Color Sunburst under unaged flash coat lacquer, Closet Classic metal parts, a 3-ply parchment pickguard and three Custom Shop Hand-Wound '62-'63 Single-Coil Strat pickups.
The tinted rift sawn maple neck has a 1963 "C" carve, a rounded shape that suits a thumb-over grip as well as classical position. The 7.25" to 9.5" compound radius flattens out as you go up the neck, so bends are less likely to fret out, and the medium vintage (50085) frets are a touch larger than vintage size. The bridge is an American Vintage synchronized tremolo, with tone controls on the neck and middle pickups.
For the same era with rosewood and wear, look at the 1962 Stratocaster Relic or the Michael Landau Signature 1963 Stratocaster. The Vintage Custom 1959 Stratocaster Rosewood is the earlier year with the first rosewood boards.
It comes in 3-Color Sunburst with a maple fingerboard.
The photos show one example. Wood grain and aging vary from guitar to guitar, so the one built for you will differ in the details.
