Why this one made the wall

Serial:  754142

Introduced in 1971, the Les Paul Recording astounded the music world with its extreme versatility and playing performance. Being the only instrument of its kind, the "Recording" solved many problems for the contemporary guitarist. The amazing range of sounds offered by the Recording Guitar makes it ideal for studio musicians. They no longer have to carry a different guitar to each session-a solid body for rock, an electric acoustic for jazz, a thin electric acoustic for blues. These musicians now use just one Les Paul Recording Guitar for all sessions-an instrument that truly lives up to its name. Bridging a wide gap between commercial and contemporary music, this spectacular instrument lends itself to all music idioms.

Featuring a new concept in low impedance pickup design, the electronic network of the L.P. Recording is a major factor in the wide scope of tonal capabilities available to the guitarist. This electronic design was initially introduced in 1969. Within a period of three years body shapes were changed and ultimately the L.P. Recording incorporated the matching elements that has made it one of the most popular and talked about guitars in the world.

TONE SELECTOR SWITCH For additional tonal effects the selector switch offers unlimited possibilities. This three way switch enables the guitarist to pre-set a desired effect and change quickly from one sound to another with simplicity.
PHASE SWITCH This two position slide switch offers both "in phase" and "out phase" tonalities. An exciting new sound can easily be achieved by moving the switch to "out phase" position. The two pickups will produce opposing signals resulting in an exciting new musical adventure.
INDIVIDUAL BASS AND TREBLE CONTROLS A unique feature in the L.P. Recording is the complete separation between the bass and treble controls. Each frequency response pattern can be individually controlled to offer a perfect tonal blend. This feature is not found in any other professional type instrument.
PICKUP SELECTOR TOGGLE SWITCH This switch activates either the front or rear pickup, separately or simultaneously.
DECADE CONTROL SWITCH The 11 position decade control "tunes" or alters the treble harmonic structure. Position 0 will "peak" the highest frequency. This "peaking" graduates accordingly down the frequency spectrum in steps through position 10.
MASTER VOLUME CONTROL This individual volume control enables the guitarist to increase the output level of either the front pickup or rear pickup with simplicity. The volume output of each pickup is increased with an extremely even balance between treble and bass frequencies.
IMPEDANCE SWITCH The Les Paul Recording is equipped with a unique switch that enables the guitarist to use either a "high" or "low" impedance amplifier without the use of a special transformer cable. In most cases commercial guitar amplification systems are high impedance. The impedance switch would then be set in the "Hi" position to obtain the versatile tonalities that are available without power loss.
