Provenance

Why this one made the wall

We ordered this one from the Custom Shop as a straight '62 and left it alone: sorted two-piece alder, a rosewood slab board, hand-wound 62/63 pickups and a Relic finish in aged three-colour sunburst. Nothing on it departs from the period spec except the fingerboard radius, and that is deliberate.

The neck is quartersawn maple in a 63 Strat "C", .830" at the first fret and 1.000" at the twelfth. That is a fuller profile than a modern C without being a handful, and if you have been looking for something with a bit of shoulder that still plays fast, it is the one to try. Medium tint nitro, early '60s truss rod, AAA rosewood over a 7.25" to 9.50" compound radius and 21 medium jumbo 6150s. Vintage curve down where the chords are, flatter up top where the bends are.

Hand-wound 62/63 Strat pickups in all three positions, relic'd, running through vintage mod wiring on a five-way lever with 250K ten-percent taper split pots. Bone nut, small headstock, four-bolt neck with an R-series relic plate.

American Vintage bridge and the upgraded '60s tremolo arm, vintage tuners with the Fender logo, an American Vintage 59-64 metal string tree, and a three-ply nitrate pickguard in aged mint green with white knobs, covers and switch tip. The relic work goes through the lacquer along the body edges and behind the neck rather than stopping at the surface. Fender Custom Shop brown Strat/Tele case.

Frequently asked

Questions we get

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

Ian's work is described on Repairs and tuning.

What if it is not right when it arrives?

You have 48 hours from the moment it arrives to decide. Email shop@lauzonmusic.com inside that window and we will authorize the return. Nothing comes back unauthorized.

Exchange it for something else and there is no restocking fee, though you cover the shipping on the instrument going back. On a straight refund it is 10% plus the actual shipping both ways.

The full terms are on Shipping and returns.

Can I pay for it over time?

Canadian buyers can pay over time with PayPlan by RBC, chosen as the payment method at checkout. The exact terms come from RBC and are shown to you before you agree to anything.

Financing never changes the price of the guitar. More on Financing.
