Why this one made the wall

The Blue Roses is the other two-pickup T-style El Cabron built for this event, and it runs the same electronics: a Curtis Novak gold foil at the neck and a custom hand-wound 20k Esquire pickup at the bridge, through a volume and a greasebucket tone. The greasebucket circuit takes top end off without pushing the bass up as it goes, so the tone knob stays usable through its whole sweep rather than turning to mud at the bottom.

The finish is hand-painted and worth looking at closely: pale blue across the whole body, with roses and blossoms drawn over the face in a fine pearlescent white line. It reads as a plain light blue guitar from across the room and as something else entirely once you are standing over it. The sides and back are left plain.

Alder body. Maple neck in the "Dull V", .950" at the first fret and .980" at the twelfth, 25.5" scale, 6105 fretwire and brass side dots, with a Bi-Flex butt-adjust truss rod.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

What if it is not right when it arrives?
