El Cabron guitars at Lauzon Music
What El Cabron is known for
Mike Eldred came up building guitars at Charvel and ran the Fender Custom Shop for years from the late 1990s. El Cabron, which he started in 2025, builds in runs of five, each run with its own theme and each guitar a one-off within it. The details are a player's: alder bodies, maple necks in a "Dull V", hand-painted finishes, a hand-wound 20k Esquire pickup, and a Black Special humbucker voiced by Eldred and Grover Jackson.

Questions
El Cabron questions, answered
Who makes El Cabron guitars?
Mike Eldred, who started building guitars at Charvel and later ran the Fender Custom Shop. He started El Cabron in 2025.
What does built five at a time mean?
El Cabron builds in runs of five guitars. Each run has its own theme, and each guitar in it is a one-off, with its own finish and artwork.
What does the Eldred Esquire capacitor do?
It sits on a push-push volume pot. Push it and a capacitor comes into the circuit for a second voice; leave it and you have the straight pickup. It adds a sound to a one-pickup guitar without adding a switch.
What is a greasebucket tone control?
A tone circuit that rolls off top end without pushing the bass up as it goes, so the knob stays usable through its whole sweep instead of turning muddy at the bottom. The El Cabron guitars on our wall use it.
