Vertex pedals at Lauzon Music
What Vertex is known for
Putting the sound of rare Dumble amps on a pedalboard. The Ultraphonix took more than four years of work: between 2012 and 2016 Vertex owner Mason Marangella and the team voiced it against five original Overdrive Special amps. The Ultra-Phonix HRM recreates one of the few EL34-powered Overdrive Specials, ODS #0214, and the Steel String MkII is based on serial #001 of the Steel String Singer. All of them are 100% analog.

Questions
Vertex questions, answered
What's the difference between the Ultraphonix MkII and the Ultra-Phonix HRM?
The Ultraphonix MkII was voiced alongside four Dumble Overdrive Special amps from the 1970s to the 1990s, which ran 6L6 power tubes. The Ultra-Phonix HRM recreates ODS #0214, one of the handful built with EL34s, so it has a more British voice. The HRM's controls are Master, Volume, Accent, Tone and Ratio, which blends in your clean signal.
Can the Steel String MkII work as a clean boost?
Yes. With the gain below halfway it behaves as a clean boost with some D-style colour; past halfway it moves into light overdrive. It has a Jazz/Rock toggle for the low end and runs on 9 to 18 volts, with more clean headroom at 18.
Where are Vertex pedals made?
In California. Vertex designs and handcrafts its pedals one at a time and sources its materials in the USA wherever it can.
