We ordered this '59 Esquire from the Fender Custom Shop in 2022, and Dale Wilson masterbuilt it. The '59 Esquire is one of our favourite Custom Shop builds, and its "C" carve is our favourite neck shape.
An original Esquire has one pickup. This one has two: a hand-wound '51 Nocaster at the bridge and a Seymour Duncan Antiquity Humbucker in the neck, on HS Tele wiring, which gives the neck position a fuller voice than a Tele single-coil.
The neck is 3A roasted flame maple in that "C" carve, with a AAA rosewood board on a 7.25"-9.5" compound radius and medium jumbo 6150 frets. The compound radius is rounder down by the nut for chords and flatter up the neck, where you bend.
The body is two-piece ash, sorted for light weight, and the finished guitar weighs 6 lb 10 oz. It's in Dirty Shell Pink nitro with a Super Heavy Relic finish, and ships in a Fender Custom Shop tweed case with its certificate of authenticity.
One of a kind.
