Our take

Who this one is for

The Tour Pro Platinum is Friedman's two-tier Tour Pro pedalboard with the power and the patching already sorted. Each one comes with a Power Grid 10 power supply and a Buffer Bay 6, both Friedman units, mounted in holes the board already has for them. The board itself is the same as the standard Tour Pro: made in the USA, a flat bottom row, an angled top row with cable routing holes, and a detachable riser for a wah or volume pedal that mounts for left- or right-footed players.

The Power Grid 10 has ten isolated 9V outputs at 350mA each, runs on 100 to 240 volts AC so it works anywhere in the world, and comes with the cables, including leads for reversed-polarity pedals and an 18V cable. It can also sit on top of the board as a riser, so you can mount pedals on it. The Buffer Bay 6 is a switchable buffer and a patch bay in one, with five TRS ins and outs and a 7-pin MIDI thru. Your guitar and amp plug into the Buffer Bay, so you're not fighting the first and last pedals' jacks every time you set up.

The five sizes match the standard Tour Pro. The 13 x 17 is the compact one, the 15 x 20 and 15 x 24 suit a typical gigging board, and the 15 x 29 and 15 x 42 are for big rigs. If you already own a power supply you like, the standard Tour Pro has the mounting holes for both units and lets you add them later.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
