Our take

Who this one is for

The VX-212 is the open-back 2x12 Friedman built to go with the VX-30 Head. It's loaded with two Celestion Alnico Blues at 16 ohms, in a tongue and groove Baltic birch cabinet handcrafted in the USA, with oversized 12-gauge wire soldered from speaker to terminal.

The open back and the Alnico Blues are what this style of amp was voiced for: a bell-like top end, warm lows and some natural compression when the head is pushed. It also runs from the VX-30 2x12 Combo's 16 ohm output if you want four speakers on stage.

Under the VX-30 Head the pair weighs 82 lbs in two boxes, against 69 lbs for the combo in one. If you need a closed-back 2x12 for a high-gain Friedman, the 212 with its Vintage 30s is the cab to look at. It comes in Black or Ivory to match the head.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when it reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before it arrives.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before it leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
