Provenance

Why this one made the wall

The Trini Lopez Standard is the strangest thing Gibson made in the sixties and it has aged into one of the most wanted. Diamond soundholes instead of f-holes, slashed-diamond inlays down a bound rosewood board, six-a-side tuners on a Firebird-style headstock, and a trapeze tailpiece with Trini's diamond set into the wood. None of it is decoration bolted onto a 335. It is a different guitar that happens to share the body.

This one is in Arctic Breeze, which is not a colour Gibson puts on many of them.

Underneath it is ES-335 architecture done properly: three-ply maple, poplar and maple with a solid maple centreblock, solid mahogany neck in the chunky '64 medium C, 24.75" scale, 22 medium jumbo frets at a 12" radius. Custombuckers with their own volume and tone each, hand wired through CTS audio taper pots and paper-in-oil capacitors, ABR-1 bridge, Kluson single-line tuners.

If you have played a 335 and wanted the neck to have more in it, this is the one.

Frequently asked

Questions we get

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses Ian Vance's bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.

Ian's work is described on Repairs and tuning.

What if it is not right when it arrives?

You have 48 hours from the moment it arrives to decide. Email shop@lauzonmusic.com inside that window and we will authorize the return. Nothing comes back unauthorized.

Exchange it for something else and there is no restocking fee, though you cover the shipping on the instrument going back. On a straight refund it is 10% plus the actual shipping both ways.

The full terms are on Shipping and returns.

Can I pay for it over time?

Canadian buyers can pay over time with PayPlan by RBC, chosen as the payment method at checkout. The exact terms come from RBC and are shown to you before you agree to anything.

Financing never changes the price of the guitar. More on Financing.
