Our take

Who this one is for

The Broadkaster LX Center Block has a laminated maple body built around a Channel Core centre block of maple and spruce, with deeper cutaways that open up the top of the 22-fret ebony board. Two Pro Twin Six humbuckers sit under gold covers, and the string-thru Bigsby B7GP rides behind an Adjusto-Matic bridge. Gretsch designed it for full sound at high volume, and the centre block helps it resist feedback when the amp is loud.

The neck is a Standard "U" on a 24.6" scale, with rolled fingerboard edges, Luminlay side dots, a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut and Gotoh locking tuners. Each pickup has its own volume, plus a master volume with treble bleed and a no-load master tone fitted with a "Squeezebox" capacitor.

Cadillac Green and Black both carry gold hardware and a gold plexi pickguard. The Broadkaster Jr. LX Center Block carries the same Pro Twin Six pickups and gold hardware in Midnight Sapphire or Blackberry.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
