The Modern Deluxe line is Martin building a vintage guitar with the tools it did not have in 1933. The top is European red spruce run through the Vintage Tone System, braced with VTS Adirondack in the Golden Era scalloped pattern, and the whole thing is put together with natural protein glue over a carbon fibre bridge plate.
In a 000 body with genuine mahogany back and sides, that combination gives the balanced mids and clear trebles the size is known for, with more headroom underneath than the appointments suggest. The Vintage Deluxe neck is slightly asymmetrical, with the high-performance taper, ebony board and EVO gold frets.
The details are where it separates from a standard 000-18. East Indian rosewood binding, Waverly gold open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs, Liquidmetal bridge pins with red dots, Old Style 18 abalone inlays and the 1933 pearl script logo on the headstock.
