Our take

Who this one is for

The Idris is Novo's three-pickup, vibrato-equipped guitar. This HSS version pairs a Fralin Modern PAF under a nickel cover at the bridge with two Fralin Vintage Hot Strat single coils, so it covers clean single-coil sounds and a fuller humbucker voice at the bridge. The body is tempered pine, the neck is tempered maple with a rosewood fingerboard, and the MannMade vibrato sits on a 25.5" scale.

The neck is a medium C with MOTO dot inlays, medium frets and a 9.5"-14" compound radius. Strings are Stringjoy 10-48 and every Idris ships in a Novo Deluxe Padded Soft Case. It's the one to look at if you want a vibrato guitar with single-coil sounds and a humbucker at the bridge.

Every Novo is built to order, by hand in Nashville, and they come in a wide variety of finishes, custom finishes included. If you're looking for something not listed, contact us. Pickups can go to SSS or to a humbucker pair (Fralin Modern or Pure PAF, Lollar dB), the body can be figured maple instead of pine, and the neck can be figured maple or take a maple or ebony fingerboard, a chunky C carve, block inlays, jumbo or stainless frets, binding and a different headstock colour. Pricing may change depending on the options chosen. The photo shows one example of the range, so yours will look different.

Questions we get

How much do I pay today?

Your choice: the full price, or a 25% deposit. On a deposit, the balance is due when the guitar reaches the shop, before it ships to you. A deposit is paid by card or PayPal. Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay can't take one.

When will it arrive?

It varies by product, anywhere from two weeks up to several months. If you'd like a date for this model first, ask us in the chat and we'll check with the supplier before you order. If you're ready now, go ahead: we confirm the ETA by email once your order is in, and if it changes, we let you know and you can cancel.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time before the supplier invoices it and ships it to us. We refund what you paid less 3% to cover the card processing fee.

Once it has shipped to us it is a special order and final sale. If it arrives with something wrong, we put that right.

What if the price goes up before it arrives?

You pay the price you ordered at. Once your order is placed we hold that price, even if the supplier raises it before the guitar arrives.

Is the free setup included?

Yes. A pre-order is an online order, so it gets the same free setup: it crosses our bench before it ships, set up the way you choose. The setup menu above shows what that covers.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

Can I finance it?

Yes, if you are in Canada and paying in full. Pick PayPlan by RBC or Shop Pay Installments as your payment method at checkout. The plan, the rate and the approval sit with the provider, and you see the terms before you agree to anything. You pay a deposit by card or PayPal.
