For this ultra‑limited A‑Type Select run, we hand‑selected 20 “super-birdseye” figured maple tops—each chosen for its dramatic depth of grain and naturally rippling character. Next, we created two bespoke burst finishes — ten of each color. Lava Burst erupts with a deep, smoldering red that moves from a molten, ember‑like core to a rich, dark perimeter—evoking the flame lacquer jobs of classic hot rods roaring down PCH. In contrast, Glacier Burst flows in crystalline blues reminiscent of ’60s surfboard resin tints and the cool coastal hues found on vintage longboards and retro cruisers. Together, the pair forms a striking yin‑and‑yang duo—fire and water, low‑and‑loud drag‑strip heat meets smooth, glassy surf‑break calm. These exclusive finishes will be offered exclusively through select Powers Electric dealers worldwide.
Inspired by San Diego’s blend of surf, skate, auto and music cultures, the A-Type re-imagines electric guitar design into a sound and feel all its own. The trussed, slim hollow body is remarkably lightweight and uniquely voiced to combine resonance, sustain and feedback suppression. An asymmetrical fretboard radius makes playing and bending strings effortless and produces a more consistent tonal character. A new single-coil pickup design blends warmth and fidelity (FF42).
