The Classic S is Suhr's S-style guitar in its most traditional dress: an alder body under a parchment 3-ply guard, a tinted maple neck carved to the 60's C Vintage Standard profile, and three V60LP single coils. Under that sit medium stainless steel frets, a 9"-12" compound radius and Suhr's SSCII system, which takes the 60-cycle hum out of the single coils without a battery.
The compound radius is rounder near the nut for chords and flatter higher up for bends. Stainless frets wear far more slowly than nickel. The tuners are Suhr locking units and the bridge is the 2-Post Tremolo with a steel block.
The choices are six finishes, an Indian rosewood or tinted maple board, and the bridge pickup: SSS keeps three V60LPs, HSS puts an SSV humbucker at the bridge. We lean to the HSS for one guitar that covers a lot of ground, with the singles still a switch away.
For a slimmer Even C Slim neck and heavy stainless frets, look at the Classic S Plus. For thin nitro with light aging and V63 pickups, the Classic S Antique.
