Provenance

Why this one made the wall

The 470 JL is Collings' second signature model with Julian Lage, following the OM1 JL acoustic. It is fully hollow, built on a solid Honduran mahogany body with a laminated maple top and a trestle block inside, and it carries a pair of Ron Ellis Ellisonic pickups made for this guitar, each with custom adjustable height.

Controls are Collings' 470 wiring: master volume and two tones. A Bigsby B3 sits behind a pinned ebony bridge base with a tune-o-matic top and nylon saddles. The Honduran mahogany neck is set with an extra long mortise and tenon joint, under an ebony-bound ebony fingerboard with graduated pearl dots, a 12" radius and a 1 11/16" nut.

This one is in Antiqued Sunburst, Collings' antiqued nitrocellulose lacquer, with a tortoise pickguard, black and silver reflector knobs and relic nickel Waverly tuners. It weighs 6 lb 2 oz.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses our bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.
