Why this one made the wall

The I-35 LC Vintage is Collings' semi-hollow rebuilt around the best instruments of the 1960s. Next to the standard I-35 LC it shares only the body dimensions. The laminate and centre block recipes are its own, the neck construction is redesigned, and the electronics change to custom Throbak ESG-102B humbuckers with CTS pots and Luxe Bumblebee caps in 50s-style wiring. Collings ages the finish and hardware in house.

The aim is a looser, more broken-in feel and response than a new semi-hollow usually has. The body is maple laminate over a maple/spruce centre block, the neck is Honduran mahogany set with an extra long mortise and tenon joint, and the fingerboard is bound rosewood with 5mm MOP long dots on a 12" radius.

This one is in Aged Tobacco Sunburst with a Kluson stop tailpiece and gold reflector knobs. It weighs 6 lb 12 oz.

Do I pay duty or brokerage on a US order?

No. Duty, taxes, brokerage and customs on a US order are handled at our end before the instrument leaves Ottawa. It arrives at your door with nothing to pay.

Orders going anywhere outside Canada and the United States work differently. The shipping and returns policy sets out which is which.

What does the free setup cover?

Every instrument crosses our bench before it ships, and on an online order that setup is free.

What it covers depends on what the guitar needs. Frets, fretboard, hardware, fresh strings, truss rod, action, nut slots, intonation, pickup height and electronics are all part of it, and none of it is an upcharge. The menu above shows the choices you get to make.
