In 1957 Gibson drew three futuristic designs: the Flying V, the Moderne and the Futura. The Futura became the Explorer, and this is the Custom Shop's mahogany version of that first drawing, one of the rarest shapes in Gibson's history.
Two-piece mahogany body, a 50s Vintage mahogany neck on an Indian rosewood board, and unpotted Custombuckers with Alnico 3 magnets wired to 500K CTS pots and a phone book capacitor. ABR-1 no-wire bridge, aluminum stop bar, Kluson single-ring tuners and aged gold hardware. Antique Natural VOS, in a Historic brown and pink hardshell case.
