The G6138 reproduces the rectangular guitar Gretsch built for Bo Diddley in 1958. The maple body comes in Firebird Red with no pickguard, gold-plated hardware, and the "G"-cutout tailpiece; the truss rod cover carries Bo Diddley's signature and the headstock is the 1957 style.
Two High Sensitive Filter'Tron humbuckers run through a volume for each pickup, a tone control and a three-way toggle, with an Adjusto-Matic bridge on a rosewood base. The rock maple neck has a 12" radius ebony board with pearloid dot inlays and vintage small frets. The scale is 25.5", which puts a little more tension on the strings than the 24.6" Gretsch scale.
For a guitar on the same lines, compare the G6199 Billy-Bo.
